Beverley Mitchellknows that nothing’s sweeter watching your kid celebrate a birthday!
The 7th Heaven alum helped her sonHutton Michael, who turned 4 on Monday, ring in his next year of life in style with a sweet-themed birthday party held atMeri Cherry Art Studioin Tarzana, California.
“Hutton has the biggest sweet tooth so we decided to make it asweetparty,” the actress, 38, tells PEOPLE, sharing exclusive photos of the sugar-laden bash. “We made sweet necklaces and sweet sundae shakes made with sand! They were a huge hit.”
In addition, attendees — including Hutton’s big sisterKenzie Lynne, 5½ — were able to paint the walls and furniture around the studio and participate in plenty of other arts and crafts.
“Hutton loved playing with all his friends and it is so special to have a party in which all the kids get to create and play,” Mitchell says of the big day, adding that her husband,Michael Cameron, had a blast as well.

Guests sipped onLaCroixsparkling water while enjoying a full spread that included fresh salads and sandwiches fromMendocino Farms.
Alongside desserts like white-chocolate-covered pretzels and crunchy marshmallow treats, an epic cake was comprised of a bunch of cupcakes decorated all together to look like a giant doughnut. Hutton was all smiles as he posed with the large yellow confection.
A smaller blue-and-yellow cake was topped with a variety of sweets like mini doughnuts, macarons, sprinkles, colorful cereal pieces and more.

The birthday boy received a personalizedKabook! children’s book, featuring customized photos of Hutton and his family, while favors includedMabel’s Labelsname stickers, plus the brand’s bag tags attached toMy Brick Cases.
“And of course the best part of the party was thePolkatots,” Mitchell quips of the impressive dessert centerpieces. “It’s Hutton’s favorite part: THE SWEETS!”



Hutton’sbirthday party last yearwas also held at Meri Cherry, where the dozen kiddos in attendance could wander wherever their imagination led them.
“Hutt’s party was quite a success — a perfect excuse to play and get dirty and create,” Mitchell told PEOPLE at the time.
Explained theHollywood Darlingsstar, “The kids loved playing in the sensory bins. Hutton had his first experience with shaving cream and slime, and it was quite a hit.”
