“This is an organization that I have worked with intimately for decades. Sara and Yvonne have been heroes since I first met them and the work they do is God’s work. Caring for abused children is God’s work and nobody does it better than they do, with more heart and more devotion,” Gifford told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.

A longtime Childhelp Celebrity Ambassador, Gifford said she became aware of the organization in 1996 and knew she “wanted to get involved.”

“My children were born into privilege and promise and good health. I have always been painfully aware that this is not the case for so many other children,” she said. “Obviously that motivates me. I want justice for those children as well.”
