These “hot couples” don’t initially make a lot of sense — same goes for some celeb couples (case in point: Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy, half brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy). But just as the heart wants what it wants, sometimes the stomach wants what it wants too…

Devil’s Food Cake Mix + Canned Pumpkin

If you’re a Hungry Girl fan, you probably know where I’m going with this. Just combine a box of the cake mix with a 15-ounce can of pure pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) into a thick batter — don’t add anything else — and spoon it into the cups of a 12-cup muffin pan (lined or sprayed with nonstick spray). Bake at 400 degrees about 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into a muffin comes out clean. It tastes nothing like pumpkin and everything like fudgy deliciousness! And only 181 calories and 3.5g fat each.

Taco Seasoning + Salmon

I love using premixed seasoning packets in unconventional ways. It’s common to use taco seasoning with ground meat; why not use it to flavor up a salmon fillet? Just sprinkle 1 teaspoon of the seasoning on a 4-ounce fillet, and grill your salmon for about 4 minutes per side. So easy, and it tastes incredible. That’ll have 192 calories and 9g fat — don’t forget how full of those good healthy fats salmon is!

The Laughing Cow Light Cheese + Extra-Lean Ground Beef

Mini Fillo Shells + Snickers

Who would think to pair a fancy dessert base with a common candy bar? Ummm, ME! Prepare to have your mind blown: Slice a standard 2.1-oz. Snickers bar in half lengthwise, and then cut each half into 5 “nuggets.” Place each nugget in a frozen mini fillo shell. Set those on a baking sheet, and bake at 350 degrees until hot and melty, about 10 minutes. Let ’em cool and set, and you’ve got adorably delicious Snickers pies! Best part? Only around 42 calories and 2g fat each!

‘Til next time… Chew the right thing!
