While many of us are intimate with dog sled race thanks to classic books likeStone FoxandWinterdance , few people have had the opportunity to see what lifetime actually looks like on the trail during the sport ’s most celebrated race , theIditarod in Alaska , until now . AsJalopnik reports , Google — with the help of former Iditarod winner Dean Osmar — has createda fashion for anyone with an Internet connection to see the day - to - twenty-four hour period experience of a musher during the 1049 - mile long race .

By developing a specialStreet View Trekker for Osmar to wear on his back , Google efficaciously turned the man into one of its Street View vehicles for the 2015 airstream . According to TechCrunch , there were a few hiccup during the trip , as Osmar was forced to deal with hapless atmospheric condition shape and several sled crashes . TheIditarod Google Street View websitecreated for the project include a verandah of screenshots shoot at various points in the race , with each figure linking back to a peak on the single-valued function that viewers can dive into and explore . Some of the shots are blurred , while others show just the ground or runaway sleigh , but those add a moment of authenticity to the project .
