I hate history revisionist , but not as much as I hate George Lucas for making Han take last . Now , with Star Wars three-D coming , he ’s now saying that the scene change was n’t a change . He claims that Han NEVER inject first :
The controversy over who shoot first , Greedo or Han Solo , in Episode IV , what I did was endeavor to clean house up the confusion , but evidently it upset hoi polloi because they wanted Solo [ who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original ] to be a cold - blooded killer , but he actually is n’t . It had been done in all closelipped - ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom . I put a piddling across-the-board shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shoot first , but everyone want to imagine that Han charge first , because they wanted to think that he in reality just gun him down .

George , how do you have the thermic detonators to attempt to rewrite history in this elbow room ? Do you reckon we are stupid ? Was n’t it enough to paint that unintelligent laser clap coming at a stupid angle from Greedo ? Do you really think that , if Greedo shoot first , he would have overlook Han at point blank ?
No , George , you could draw all the optical maser you need and add all the spacious shots you need , but you ca n’t rewrite history . If Greedo had shot first in that scene setting you steer , Han would be beat , menstruation . Nobody can miss at that distance . Not even a stormtrooper .
