A Florida woman has disappeared in Spain during what was supposed to be a break from a divorce she was going through, her friends and family say, according toLocal 10,Fox 13andThe Associated Press.

Ana Maria Knezevic, 40, traveled to Spain in December and had been staying at an apartment in Madrid, Fox 13 and The Associated Press report.

She was last heard from two weeks ago, according to the outlets.

Abulletinfrom Spain’s Ministry of Interior said she disappeared on Feb. 2.

Prior to Knezevic’s disappearance, a man in a helmet allegedly disabled security cameras at her apartment building, authorities say, according to Fox 13. The man allegedly sprayed the surveillance cameras with black paint, building management says, according to Local 10.

The next day, Knezevic’s friend Sanna Rameau and brother Juan Henao received text messages from her phone, which they say raised their suspicions that something had happened to her.

“Amazing connection,” the message read. “Like I never had before.”

The message also said her signal was “spotty.”

“She wouldn’t do this … it is very unsafe and crazy behavior,” Rameau told the Associated Press. Rameau said the tone of the message was impersonal, detached and did not sound like Knezevich.

The missing woman was scheduled to travel to Barcelona on Feb. 5, per The Associated Press. Rameau said she had traveled with Knezevic before and it’s not in her nature to disappear before a trip, perLocal 10.
