The Guardians of the Galaxy
They ’re one of Marvel ’s main cosmic superhero teams , economize world from foreigner and monumental threats from blank . to begin with , they were from an alternative future , in the thirty-first century , keep open Earth from reptilian invaders — but the new reading is in the present Clarence Day , and they ’re a tabloid - tag grouping of misfit who amount together in the wake ofthe brilliant Annihilation storyline . Peter Quill aka Star Lord
In therecent comics , Peter Quill was born on Earth , to a human mother — but his father is J’son of Spartax , an alien and a member of the royal family of Spartax . J’son crash - land on Earth and had an affair with Peter ’s mother , who was later killed by exotic assassin . ( In the comics , anyway . )
find that Peter ’s “ bang associates ” include Yondu , who look not to be in the trailer . Yondu is one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy from back in the 1960s , and he ’s played in this moving-picture show by Michael Rooker — he ’s abig blue guy rope with a mohawk .
As the prevue begins , Star Lord is survive inside what looks like an ancient tomb .
In the first Thor moving-picture show , we glimpsed the Infinity Gauntlet inOdin ’s vault — and if you put all six Gems inside the Gauntlet , you get infinite power . Thanos , the scoundrel we see at the very goal of Avengers , has been jazz to seek that power in the comics . So if this is one of the Gems , it ’s important . Or maybe it ’s just a nerveless globe ? Either way , Thanos probably wants it .
Here ’s our first glimpse of Star - Lord wearing his helmet and head out to do some fierceness , with a gun for hire in each hand .
What are those robot float around Star - Lord ? Are they his comrade ? Or his captors ?
In either example , he does n’t seem too happy about them .
Do n’t get cocky , kid . Star - Lord doing some catchy manoeuvre in the middle of the heavy tussle conniption .
Running across an alien landscape — towards something ? Away from something ?
lead out once again , to bring some more havoc . Love the spaceship interior in this film . They all look marvellous .
Gamora
In the comics , Gamora ( Zoe Saldana ) is described as the “ most dangerous woman in the Universe . ” She ’s a ruthless killer who is constantly looking for an excuse to murder people .
You might have notice in the readout above , Gamora is describe as the last subsister of the Zenwhoberi race — her masses were all pass over out by the Badoon , a nasty group of aliens who also killed Star Lord ’s mother . In the comics , she was adopt by the mega - villain Thanos , who trained her as an assassin .
And here she is having a brand fight — based on the room this is snub and the scenery , it looks as though she ’s contend Nebula , whom we ’ll fit presently .
Drax the Destroyer
If you ’ve read any of the Annihilation comics , then Drax ( Dave Bautista ) is already one of your favorite character reference . He ’s a big powerhouse , whose ability usually admit Hulk - degree persuasiveness and stamen — but he ’s got a pump of Au . He ’s smarter than the Hulk , but not by much . In most versions of the comic , he started out as a homo but has been reborn as a kind of alien berserker .
And here he is , lead berserk .
Green pedigree flies everywhere .
This is all most likely during a prison break from that space prison house where the crew finds themselves .
Rocket Raccoon
As the read - out says , Rocket Raccoon is a cybernetic / generic experiment on a scurvy life history form . He originally appeared back in the seventies . I extremely commend blame upthe Incredible Hulk collection Pardoned , which includes an former Rocket Raccoon story , as well as some of the good Hulk tales ever .
In the original comic , Rocket lives on a planet full of talking animals , crewing a spaceship called the Rack ‘ n ’ Ruin , along with his first first mate Wal Russ , a talking Walrus , and they protect an all - powerful Gideon Bible from space vulture . ( This is roughly the same era of Marvel that gave us Howard the Duck . )
You ’ll remark that in add-on to Groot , whom we ’re getting to in a moment , Rocket ’s main fellow is Lylla . She ’s not in this trailer , and possibly not in the movie at all , but she ’s a talk otter , Rocket Raccoon ’s soulmate .
Groot
Groot is basically an extraterrestrial flora fiend , who ’s almost insufferable to down . In the recent comedian , he and Rocket Raccoon are a duo , with Rocket risking destruction to go back for Groot on a few occasions . Groot can only say “ I am Groot ! ” , but he conveys a lot of different meanings with that one set phrase .
Director James Gunntells Total Film , “ Ilove Groot so much I get teary-eyed eyed when I think of him sometimes . Essentially , all the Guardians start out the movie as bastards – exceptGroot . He ’s an clean-handed . He ’s a hundred percent mortal and a hundredpercent sweet . He ’s caught up in Rocket ’s life , really . ”

Nebula
Nebula ( Doctor Who ’s Karen Gillan ! ) is one of a few scoundrel in this photographic film , and she ’s the one who ’s boast the most in the trailer . In the comics , she ’s a ruthless outer space pirate and sadistic Orcinus orca , who is constantly adjudicate to take advantage of other masses ’s screw - ups to impound power for herself .
This look like the other side of that fight where Gamora is maintain a adult brand . So it ’s Gamora ’s sword against Nebula ’s knife . In the comics , Nebula claims to be the rarefied - daughter of Thanos , who punishes her for her lies by work her into a kind of vicious living dead .
The Collector
We ’ve already see the Collector ( Benicio Del Toro ) on silver screen — he come out at the conclusion of Thor : The Dark World , take self-will of the Aether , which is ( as we cite ) one of the six Infinity Gems . Ronan the Accuser
Who’sthis lifting Drax up ? Ca n’t really see his / her face , but I ’m guessingthis is our one and only glimpse at Ronan the Accuser , who is the film ’s “ independent high-risk guy rope ” harmonise to Kevin Feige . Ronan is a member of the Kree race — the race which the original Captain Marvel also belongs to . ( The Kree are usually at warfare with the shape - shifting Skrull race , whom we have n’t properly seen yet in the Marvel film . )
Korath the Pursuer
Korath ( Djimon Hounsou ) is being described as yet another villain in this film — he captures Star Lord in the opening moments of the trailer . Korath is a Kree federal agent and an ally of Ronan the Accuser . He ’s also a brilliant cyber - geneticist who upgrade himself and devised a variety of “ pursuer ” matter that can track and catch anything or anyone .
Those two hombre with Korath are Kree agents . Or possibly Sakaaran Troopers — a toy label “ Sakaaran Trooper ” was being sold at Toy Fair this past weekend , and it see a muckle like those guys .
Who are the Sakaarans ? They ’re the natives of Sakaar , the planet where the Hulk gets stranded in the much - make out Planet Hulk plot line . But before you get activated , the Sakaarans plausibly wo n’t have much to do in this movie beyond being cannon fodder , and their name is in all likelihood barely an Easter egg .
Korath has never even heard of Star Lord . Poor Peter .
Here ’s Korath add up out of his starship with more of those helmet guys , quick to do some dirty deeds .
And now he ’s running across the battleground , shooting everything in wad .
Rhomann Dey
Yup , that ’s John C. Reilly asa “ Centurion ” of the Nova Corps . , who are probably easily describe ( crudely ) as Marvel ’s resolution to DC Comics ’ Green Lanterns — they ’re essentially space cops . The hoagy make love as Nova aka Richard Rider , who ’s part of the Corps . , is apparently not in this film . That ’s British comedian Peter Serafinowicz as his 2nd - in - command .
Yes , this flick has everybody in it .
Not see in these picture : Glenn Close as Commander Rael , leader of the Nova Corps . In any case , the Nova Corps has conquer the Guardians the Galaxy , and are hold on them lock away up in outer space prison house , until they escape . Which seems not to take long .
The Milano
And here ’s the literal ace of the film : the Milano , Star Lord ’s spaceship . She ’s a thing of amazing dish .
And here she is going into struggle against an nameless other spaceship . [ Update : director James Gunnsaysthat the Milano goes into struggle against a fleet of “ Ronan ’s Necrocraft ” at this distributor point in the film . Thanks for the heads up , Toastie - for - realandhalahala ! ]
Unidentified Spaceship
So what ship is this ? [ Update : This is probably one of those Necrocraft Gunn was talking about . ]
In any cause , the fly laggard are causing tons of damage on the surface below .
Other random stuff:
Something is blowing up . What edifice is this ? Possibly part of the prison house — but does anybody recognize that insignia at remaining ? It ’s sort of like theNova Corps insignia , but not quite . [ Update : People have pointed out that it says TIVAN under the logo — so this is probably a facility belong to the Collector , Taneleer Tivan . ]
Here ’s a bunch of alien prisoner — any clue what race any of these belong to ? Or if any of these are actually significant ?
And finally there ’s this random prison house guard who contract Peter Quill ’s previous - school Walkman . I could n’t place him , or what subspecies he belongs to — is he just a self-aggrandizing despicable safety ? Or is he conjecture to be somebody from the strip ?
Also , James Gunntells Total Filmthat the Walkman is Peter ’s only link to his lost family , world : “ HookedOn A Feeling ’ is used in the motion picture . That and a slew of other old songsare on Quill ’s motley tape in his Sony Walkman . It ’s one of the fewthings he has from Earth . I do n’t think of it as a trick , because it’svery dear to him . It ’s the umbilical cord that connects him to earth andthe home and fellowship he lost . ”
In any case , when Peter receive too upturned about his Walkman , the guard give him the smackdown with a force baton . Peter is go to get kicked around a lot in this flick , I have a feeling .
