Musk made some bold predictions on Monday about the future of hokey intelligence . The billionaire tech mogul in earnest seems to conceive artificial oecumenical intelligence ( AGI ) , the point when AI can hold reasonableness and logic in the same way as humans , is just a year or two forth .
“ If you specify AGI as chic than the sassy man , I think it ’s plausibly in the next yr . Like within two years , ” Musk say during a schmoose with the head of Norway ’s sovereign fund onTuesday .

“ But that ’s still a pretty large leap beyond that to say smarter than the machine - augment human collective , ” Musk continue . “ So like , is it smart than all humankind work together who are also using computers to augment their output ? And that I suppose is probably five year away . ”
Ironically , Musk ’s talk on X Spaces was cut brusque because of technical problems , something that ’s happened oftentimes when Musk has seek to host a Old World chat over recent months . Much like the term “ contrived word , ” the definition of AGI is still pretty bleary . But it makes for very cool - sounding headlines when Musk makes these proclamations .
