Back in 2014 , Edge of Tomorrow was praised as one of the smart scifi action spectacles to come in down the pike in a long while . Since then , there ’s always been the demand for a sequel , and newfangled comment from director Doug Liman hint at when that might pass .
Despite honour and the fact that it star Tom Cruise , Liman ’s future - state of war flick did n’t pull in quite enough money to earn an instant greenlight . progression on a subsequence has been slow , and an interview with Liman onCollidergives some perceptiveness as to why :

She does n’t need this movie , he does n’t demand this movie , and I do n’t necessitate it . We ’re gon na make it if we really consider in it . We have story that the three of us enjoy , so we ’re working hard on the script . ”
