Harvey Guillén knows how to care lamia , but what about beetle ? The histrion good known for playinghuman conversant , Guillermo on the FX hit What We Do in the Shadowsis joining the upcoming DC filmBlue Beetle , which starsCobra Kai ’s Xolo Maridueñain the title role .
He ’s joining fledgeling Bruna Marquezine as centime , the love interest in the film , and Belissa Escobedo ( Hocus Pocus 2 , American Horror Story ) as Milagros Reyes , the young sis of Jaime Reyes , played by Maridueña . As for Guillén ’s character , that remains a mysteryaccording to the Wrap , which broke the tale . And with any mirthful playscript movie mystery , it will of course of study will lead to hypothesis that he could be playing some other DC fibre .
Which , frankly , would be excellent , especially if it was some variety of sinister villain . On What We Do in The Shadows , we ’ve seen his character go from soft - mannered follower of his vampire god to full on vampire killer / protector , all while maintain the character ’s witching and mellifluous core . He ’s also naturally uproarious — the bozo has got mountain range . Plus he ’s becoming a bigger and bigger star too , with interior TV exposure as a spokesperson for Geico and roles in films like Werewolves Within .

Blue Beetle is currently scheduled for release August 18 , 2023 . Angel Manuel Soto is direct from a hand by Gareth Dunnet - Alcocer . The film was in the first place go direct to HBO Maxbut it was then flip to theatrical , which sure makes it seem like Warner Bros. has self-assurance in it .
Created by Keith Giffen , John Rogers , and Cully Hamner , Blue Beetle has been a few different characters in the comics , but this version will center on the Mexican American version , Jaime . One twenty-four hours he find an ancient scarab which attaches itself to him and gives him superpowers . It remain to be visit how much , if at all , Jaime will interact with any other DC characters with picture on the skyline — Aquaman , The Flash , Batgirl , etc.—but if the origin account works out , the sky is the bound .
