The 1960 bookFirst Men to the MoonbyWernher von Brauntells the write up of John Mason , a fabricated astronaut of the future bound for the Sun Myung Moon . The commitment page reads , “ To Iris and Margrit [ von Braun ’s daughters ] who will live in a world in which flying to the moon will be commonplace . ”
In the book we read of the grooming and technical expertise necessary for a journeying into space , keep company by amazing example and diagrams by Fred Freeman . As one of my favourite pre - Apollobooks of quad retro - futurism I ca n’t recommend this playscript extremely enough . With hard to find retrofuture books like these I sometimes wonder if there might be a market for them if a publishing firm were to reissue them .
